Almost everyone knows the kimono is Japan's traditional dress, and batik is Indonesias trademark of traditional design. Let's have a look at how the kimono and batik are combined to create a new fashion style.
Fashion designers from Indonesia and Japan have created a new style, featuring loosely-fitting kimonos made with batik-patterned cloth. About 50 of these recent creations are on display.
The batik-kimonos are designed for different functions: for traveling, relaxation, formal workwear and for young people.
The combination of batik and kimono - first we find the most appropriate batik pattern, and because Indonesians like to wear kimono-style clothes, we tried to mix them and it looks good. So we have showed it here.
Actually Indonesians like Japanese culture, and Japanese like Indonesian culture as well. Since 300 years ago, Japanese ladies have loved batik; they imported it to make Kimonos. So I hope this show can deepen the relationship between Indonesia and Japan.
